One of the most sought after auction lots at the Cancer Day held at Malone last year was the opportunity to play a round of golf in a fourball at Malone with Rory McIlroy. On Thursday 11th June Rory duly turned up to honour this commitment and teed it up with Tony Giordano, Paul Graham, Jim Murdock and Ian Emerson (Tony played the front nine and Ian took over for the back nine) in front of a small but appreciative group of members. The weather was kind, the golf was good, the craic was mighty and Rory was the perfect gentleman: nothing was too much trouble, he signed everything that was thrust at him, posed for photographs with all and sundry, and even laughed at Tony Giordano's jokes: above and beyond...
